A beautiful large Victorian sterling silver locket on a book chain, with detailed engraving on both sides and a repousse border to the front. The internal photo frames are missing. Each alternate link to the book chain is decoratively engraved.
The reverse side of the locket is hallmarked sterling silver, Birmingham 1880, with the maker's mark J & F.S.
In very good antique condition, it has no dents and snaps shut firmly.
The locket measures 4.5 cms, excluding the bail by 3.6 cms (1 3/4 inches x 1 3/8 inches). The chain is 41 cms (16 inches) long by 0.7 cms (1/4 inch) wide.
